I’m a Virginia-based writer/editor who specializes in long-form content. With two degrees in writing and six years of professional experience working with government agencies, nonprofits, and higher education institutions, I’ll help you create and sharpen the stories that center your community around your mission within the guidelines of your brand.

My Professional Storyline
Before establishing Ember Ink Writing & Editing, LLC in January 2025, I worked as a Writer, Editor, and Communications Manager in National Parks, universities, and nonprofits. Here’s a quick rundown:
Bachelor of Arts – Messiah College (2019)
Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Messiah College with a Bachelors degree in English Writing & Literature and a minor in Psychology. I spent three of those years working as a Writing Tutor, and one semester at the Oregon Extension in Lincoln, OR!
Ranger – Shenandoah National Park (2019)
Worked as an Interpretation & Education Ranger in Shenandoah National Park, helping out in the park’s Media Office and Search & Rescue squad.
Communications Fellow – National Park Service (2019-2020)
Worked as a Communications Fellow for the National Park Service – Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance program.
Master of Arts – James Madison University (2020-2022)
Graduated Summa Cum Laude from James Madison University with a Masters degree in Writing, Rhetoric & Technical Communication.
Taught the freshman writing course and worked on the Celebrating Simms Project.
Communications Consultant – Van Houten Consulting/NPS (2021-2022)
Worked as Communications Consultant with Van Houten Consulting on contract with the National Park Service – Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance program.
Communications Manager – Shenandoah National Park Trust (2022-2024)
Worked as the Communications Manager for the Shenandoah National Park Trust.
